Admission Quality Improved with 3,800 New Students Enrolled

     On August 27th and 28th, more than 3,800 freshmen from all over China were welcomed to STDU, where, with their youthful dreams and future expectations, they started a new journey in life.
     Leaders of STDU, such as Wangyue Sen, Liu Zhihua, Zhang Jianmin, went to visit the 2015 new students and their parents who came to register and conveyed their greetings to the teachers and students participating in orientation at every freshmen reception desk. To ensure that the registration process goes smoothly and reaches new students¡¯ and their parents¡¯ satisfaction, the Students¡¯ Affair Office convened the relevant departments to hold a coordination meeting and carried out careful arrangements in advance for the registration places, the reception desks, the division of volunteers, the information desk, the logistics etc.
     This year, a total of 3876 full-time  undergraduate students were  enrolled in STDU, including  3636  undergraduates from the main campus and 240 undergraduates from the ¡°Engineering Education Experimental Class¡± jointly trained with Shijiazhuang Institute of Railway Technology. This year STDU started the undergraduate education program "Mechanical Engineering and Automation" in cooperation with Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), admitting the first students.
     STDU further increased its  recognition in Hebei province with the recruitment quality improved. Hebei province is the largest source of students, with 49.8% of the total enrollment plan in STDU. The lowest admission point for Science is 570, 26 higher than the control line of prestigious universities in Hebei; The lowest admission point for Liberal Arts is 563, 15 higher than the provincial control line. The lowest admission point for the "Engineering Education Experimental Class¡± is 534, 60 higher than the second line (474). Here is the admission from other provinces: 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) such as Henan, Shandong, Shaanxi, and Heilongjiang have the average of Science and Engineering 30 points higher than the provincial control line; 4 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) such as Sichuan and Yunnan have the average of Science and Engineering 20-30 points higher than the provincial control line. 3 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) such as Fujian have the average for Literature and History 20 points higher than the provincial control line; 12 provinces such as Henan, Tianjin and Shandong (autonomous regions and municipalities) have the average for Literature and History 10-20 points higher than the provincial control line.
